The 2009 BodyShop Business Waterborne Conference to be held Aug. 13-14 at the Sawmill Creek Resort & Conference Center in Huron, Ohio, is the ultimate opportunity for repairers to learn about waterborne basecoats and the environmental regulations that will mandate their use. Experienced shop owners, painters, jobbers, and paint and equipment manufacturers will be on hand to deliver the latest information on the revolution that is sweeping the nation.

“As the leading information provider for the collision repair market, BodyShop Business wanted to help lead the way in the waterborne movement,” said Publisher Scott Shriber. “BSB educates repairers on waterborne basecoats and other topics through its print and online properties, but this conference will serve as a new, dynamic way in which to do that.”

Attendees will be treated to presentations by:

Mike Anderson: A popular speaker in the collision repair industry and a successful shop owner, Anderson will mix humor, passion and learning discussing his shops’ waterborne conversion and developing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

Mark Clark: This 30-plus year industry veteran and owner of Professional PBE Systems will discuss the present and future state of the waterborne movement.

Michael Giarrizzo: The 2009 BodyShop Business Executive of the Year and CEO of DCR Systems, along with global process consultant/waterborne expert Doug Kirk, will discuss the integration of waterborne basecoats into DCR’s patented lean-based operations model.

Tom Horvath: Best known for his SYSTEM ONE products used in Jay Leno’s Garage, Horvath will share the wealth of knowledge he has gained from spraying waterborne basecoats over the last 10 years.

• Representatives from the EPA, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) and others to be announced.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to take I-CAR’s new Waterborne Products, Systems and Application (REF07) live training program. The program will cover:

• Types of waterborne materials in use.

• Differences between waterborne and solventborne systems.

• Surface preparation and equipment requirements.

• Drying processes.

• Storage and waste disposal considerations.

• Typical conversion processes.

Also, there will be a trade show showcasing all the latest innovative waterborne product offerings!
