Repair Shops Can Get Up to $7,200 to Disclose Green Score in New Green Garage Challenge Campaign

Green Score Campaign will pay automotive service and repair shops $200 per month, for up to three years, in cooperation with the U.S. PACE Nation program to promote climate pollution prevention.

Green Garage Challenge has announced the Green Score Campaign to pay automotive service and repair shops $200 per month, for up to three years, in cooperation with the U.S. PACE Nation program to promote climate pollution prevention.

“New federal, state and local Green Disclosure Policies enable consumers to compare green performance ratings between similar shops in their community,” said Steven Schillinger, administrator of the Green Garage Challenge. “Any automotive business operator can enter data into EPA’s Portfolio Manager, resulting in a report card-style rating of 0 to 100. A score of 75 or better indicates top performers, and means shop owners and their customers are eligible to earn discounts, rebates and subsidies.

“EPA’s ENERGY STAR scoring system calculator is a free online tool that allows shop owners to calculate a monthly score based on consumption and waste data imported from their utility company or service supplier.”

Kyle Holt, president of S/P2, added, “S/P2 is proud to join the Green Score Campaign. Shop owners and their employees receive a wide range of accredited safety and sustainability training – from the ins and outs of protecting the environment to improving operational efficiency. And that’s all with no travel, no lost time out of the office, and at no cost to accredited Green Garage Challenge participants.”

“We look forward to offering this valuable scoring system to our more than 2,500 automotive centers across the U.S. and Canada,” said Jose R. Costa, group president at Driven Brands, Inc. “I challenge business owners everywhere to participate in The ENERGY STAR National Building Competition and show their commitment to the environment.”
