SCA Appraisal Company Brings New Source of Vehicles for Recycled Rides Program

SCA’s first vehicle donation, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, will be presented later this summer in partnership with Fix Auto in Pasadena, Calif.

NABC-recycled-rides-scaThe National Auto Body Council (NABC) recently announced a new source of vehicle donations for its Recycled Rides program, thanks to SCA Appraisal Company, a provider of appraisal services.

According to SCA President Tim Davis, as SCA acquires vehicles throughout the year, it will launch an effort to identify and donate those that may be a good fit for the NABC’s Recycled Rides program. An added bonus is that most of these will be newer, already roadworthy cars that are practically ready to be gifted to deserving individuals or nonprofit organizations in need.

“Recycled Rides is a tremendous program that our collision industry has rallied to support because of the significant impact it makes in the lives of so many individuals nationwide,” said Davis. “SCA is committed to joining our industry colleagues to help expand this effort. It’s a win-win situation for everyone, especially for the many individuals in need of reliable transportation.”

SCA’s first vehicle donation, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, will be presented later this summer in partnership with Fix Auto in Pasadena, Calif., to Lee Ann Smith, a Gold Star single mother who lost her son in the service to his country. Fix Auto will take the vehicle through safety inspections and final detailing and facilitate the presentation of the vehicle.

“Fix Auto’s participation in Recycled Rides provides an opportunity for our locations to give back to the communities they serve in a meaningful way,” said Fix Auto USA President and COO Paul Gange. “We encourage our owner-operators to participate in events and opportunities such as Recycled Rides to do just that. Fix Auto wishes all the best to Lee Ann, and hopes we have helped ease the stress associated with limited or unavailable transportation options.”

According to NABC Executive Director Chuck Sulkala, with the success and growth of the Recycled Rides program over the past several years, the NABC is fielding more requests from individuals and charities, as well as repairers and parts vendors eager and willing to donate their services and materials if more vehicles are available.

“We are grateful to the many insurance, rental car and salvage companies whose vehicle donations have been and continue to be the backbone of our Recycled Rides program since its inception,” said Sulkala. “As the need and demand for reliable transportation continues to grow, we are grateful to SCA for stepping up to provide us with an additional, valuable source of vehicles. This unique collaboration of so many in our industry truly exemplifies the integrity and professionalism of the collision industry.”
