The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) has published the video of a panel discussion from the OEM Collision Repair Technology Summit at the 2017 SEMA Show.

The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) has published the video of a panel discussion from the OEM Collision Repair Technology Summit at the 2017 SEMA Show.

The nearly two-hour panel discussion – “The Hidden Dangers of Vehicle Technology, Improper Repairs and Your Liability” – features Audi of America’s Mark Allen, attorney Erica Eversman, former shop owner Aaron Clark and attorney Todd Tracy. Technologist/author John Ellis moderated the discussion.

Topics included:

  • An industry that is grappling with following OEM repair requirements that are expected to be performed on every job.
  • Insurance-claims positioning that leans toward case-by-case approval.
  • The implication of business decisions that can directly affect shop liability.

“As litigation exposes flaws in the rationale for deviating from OEM repair procedures, there isn’t a more critical discussion that collision repair operators should watch,” SCRS said.
