SEMA Announces New Online Career Center

The SEMA Career Center addresses the employment challenges of automotive companies and facilitates a talent pipeline for entering into the automotive aftermarket industry.

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) announced it has launched the SEMA Career Center, an online employment resource dedicated to the automotive aftermarket industry. Available at www.sema.org/jobs, the SEMA Career Center addresses the employment challenges of automotive companies and facilitates a talent pipeline for entering into the automotive aftermarket industry.

“Finding qualified employees with specific skills and relevant work experience are top challenges facing SEMA members,” said Zane Clark, SEMA director of education. “The SEMA Career Center addresses this challenge and makes it easy for automotive employers to connect with job seekers that are best suited for their needs.”

Through an automotive network that includes the Auto Care Association, the SEMA Career Center will have the ability to expand the volume and reach of job openings from automotive companies throughout the country. Employers are able to search resumes, set up resume alerts and receive valuable reporting information with enhanced tools. Similarly, job seekers can post resumes and receive alerts when potential new openings are posted.

“There are many employment sites for job seekers,” said Clark. “What makes the SEMA Career Center unique is that listings are concentrated within the $36 billion automotive specialty equipment industry. It’s an exciting industry that is filled with lots of career opportunities.”

According to the recent SEMA Employment Outlook Study, job categories in greatest demand across all three key business types (manufacturer, distributor and retail) include: general labor, sales and clerical/customer and service/technical support. The study also notes that finding qualified employees with specific skills and relevant work experience is a predominant challenge facing SEMA members.

The SEMA Career Center seeks to address these findings and become the industry resource for automotive-centric jobs. The SEMA Career Center is now available to both employers and job seekers. Companies seeking qualified candidates may create a user profile and post open positions. Job seekers are encouraged to create a user profile and upload their resumes. Future updates will list internship opportunities, allow applicants to obtain resume-writing advice, interviewing tips and other career building tools.
