Slovakian Company Debuts Flying Car Prototype

130427aeromobil_00000078828According to the Daily Mail, a Slovakia-based company has made what was once a dream a reality: a flying car.

Designed to be fueled at regular gas stations, the Aeromobil is capable of flying 430 miles on a tank of gas, reaching a maximum speed of 124 miles per hour. When in “car mode,” the vehicle’s wings fold down and back, allowing it to fit into a standard size parking space.

“We have been developing the concept of a flying car since 1990,” said Tatiana Veber, a spokesperson for AeroMobil. “Our first model looked quite bizarre and it would have problems in regular use. That was a signal to improve the concept of the flying car in a way to become an integral part of the regular road traffic.”

AeroMobil says its vehicle can comfortably seat a driver and passenger, combining the performance of a sportscar with features of an “ultralight.”

The vehicle prototype is slated to make its public debut Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Pioneer Festival in Austria.
