Standox Celebrates Diamond Anniversary

To mark this occasion, the automotive refinish brand has created an anniversary website designed predominantly for European, Middle Eastern and African markets illustrating the brand’s important innovations.

Standox, one of the three premium global refinish brands of Axalta Coating Systems, celebrates its 60-year anniversary in 2015. To mark this occasion, the automotive refinish brand has created an anniversary website: www.standox.com/60. Designed predominantly for European, Middle Eastern and African markets, the site illustrates the brand’s important innovations.

The Standox success story began in Europe 60 years ago. In 1955, paint manufacturer Herberts introduced a selection of automotive refinish paints with the name Standox. The name derived from the words Standöl (stand oil – a raw material for the paint production) and oxidative (drying). The new paint quickly became popular, and Herberts developed it further into a complete automotive refinish paint system.

Over the decades that followed its introduction, Standox provided its customers with important new innovation. For example, the metallic two-coat finish came into fruition in 1968, the blending technique in 1973 and one-visit application in 1992. In the 1990s, Standox made a breakthrough in the area of environmentally responsible waterborne basecoat systems with Standohyd and, in 2010, with the introduction of Standoblue. These two basecoat systems are the latest generation refinish systems from the company. But the innovations are not limited exclusively to technology, the company noted. Standox says its reputation as a global premium brand is also due to its comprehensive services such as training programs and the expert consultancy it provides for many areas of body shop management.

Over the course of 2015, Standox will post 12 stories about innovation on the standox.com/60 anniversary website, which will show the global development of the brand over the past the six decades. The different eras will be illustrated with photos, posters, image galleries and videos about Standox. It will include topics and news that were relevant at the time, bringing the whole brand story to life.
