Who knew that a bygone popular arcade game like Frogger could inspire someone to play a real-life version of it on a highway?
In the game, the player moves a frog through a road bustling with all kinds of traffic. If you’re not quick enough, well…you get squashed.
That’s exactly what happened to a 23-year-old man who police in South Carolina say was hit by an SUV after trying to make life imitate art and reenact his favorite video game. Fortunately, he was not killed but did require hospitalization and is currently in stable condition.
Before he was struck by the SUV, police
say the man had been discussing the game with his friends. Chief Jimmy Dixon said the man yelled "go" and bolted into oncoming traffic in a four-lane highway. No charges are expected against the driver.
