Celebrated street rod builder Bobby Alloway has teamed with PPG Automotive Refinish to continue his longstanding tradition of turning out award-winning vehicles. Alloway uses PPG’s Deltron product line for all custom car projects at Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop in Louisville, Tenn.
Alloway has been producing timeless street rods since 1978 and opened his own shop in 1991, merging muscle car attitude with hot rod craftsmanship. His cars feature an aggressive edge attained through a combination of color, physical stance and sheer power. Known as "the master of black," Alloway had been looking to work with a paint partner that could understand his requirements and meet his high standards when a street rod magazine editor recommended PPG.
"From a service to product standpoint, I am happy that I made the change," said Alloway. "Once I made the call, the shop was leery, but we are all glad we did it. PPG really works to take care of its customers and their needs and provide a dependable and consistent product."
Alloway has received numerous national honors for his work, including the Goodguys Street Rod and Street Machine of the Year awards, a Ridler award, an America’s Most Beautiful Roadster award, and countless others. He was inducted into the National Rod & Custom Hall of Fame in 2004. This past January, he was named the 2011 Autorama Builder of the Year at the Detroit Autorama.
As part of the PPG team, Alloway recently appeared with PPG at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. He has also represented PPG at several custom car shows around the country including the popular Shades of the Past annual September event in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
"Bobby Alloway is one of the most accomplished, talented, and respected street rod builders in the country. It’s an honor having him on our team," said Jeff Griffin, PPG manager, collision segment. "Knowing he prefers the PPG Deltron brand, in our opinion, speaks volumes about the quality and versatility of our product line."
