Rhode Island Aftermarket Part Legislation Goes into Effect
The controversial bill to prevent insurance companies from mandating the use of aftermarket parts without the owner’s consent on motor vehicles less than 48 months beyond the manufacturer date has become law in Rhode Island, according to a report by Insurance Journal.

Rhode Island is currently considering House Bill 8013 ( RI H8013), which would prohibit the installation of non-OEM parts without the vehicle owner providing expressed written consent.
Rhode Island Senate Passes Bill Restricting Use of Aftermarket Crash Parts
Senate Bill 2679A would require written consent from consumers if insurers or body shops specify aftermarket crash parts for vehicles that are newer than 48 months beyond their manufacturing date.
Rhode Island Senate Judiciary Committee Recommends Passage of Bill that Would Restrict Use of Aftermarket Crash Parts
The bill has the support of the top three Democrats in the Rhode Island Senate.
