A custom 1969 Pontiac Firebird and a 1960 Buick LeSabre featuring PPG Deltron paint won notable awards at the Goodguys annual midsummer event.
PPG announced that it is preparing for one of the most popular automotive events in the U.S. – the annual Goodguys PPG Nationals, which are taking place July 12-14 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus.
The recent Goodguys West Coast Nationals Show Presented by BASF at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, Calif., had a slew of award-winning cars present, including the crowned “America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod.”
A 1940 Ford Convertible, “Lucille,” a Goolsby Customs build and owned by Debbie Walls and coated with BASF Glasurit 55 Line in a custom color, “Glasurit Cabernet, Goolsby Edition,” was awarded the 2018 Street Rod D’Elegance at the Goodguys Del Mar Nationals.
PPG and the Goodguys Rod and Custom Association have teamed up to create the PPG Lowrider Palace, a special indoor display featuring some of the most dazzling lowriders California has to offer.
The truck will make 18 appearances, concluding its tour season Nov. 16 at WestWorld of Scottsdale in Arizona.
Several PPG-painted cars and a unique truck captured key honors at the Goodguys PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.
The appearances include car, truck and hot rod shows and events sponsored by the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association and other prominent automotive enthusiast groups.
The Studebaker, owned by Paul and Betty Gilliam of Birmingham, Ala., was selected out of a competitive field of seven custom rod finalists from regional Goodguys events held throughout the past year.
A 1967 Chevelle and a 1961 Ford F-100 pickup – both painted with PPG products – earned top honors from the association.
A PPG-painted car took Street Rod of the Year honors, and PPG’s DITZLER DSC5250 Satin Clear Kit won the inaugural Best New Product award in the Paint & Car Care Products category.
