Brown’s Auto Salvage, headquartered in Bomoseen, Vt., is the newest auto parts recycler to become a member of the Team Premium Recycled Parts (PRP) network, the largest national network of independent auto recyclers. Brown’s two facilities (a second yard is located in Winchendon, Mass.) bring the Team PRP national membership to 127 stores.
“We are pleased and proud to welcome Brown’s Auto Salvage to the team,” said Kent Rothwell, owner of Weaver Parts and chair of Team PRP’s national board. “Brown’s has built an excellent reputation as a high quality, environmentally-conscious auto parts recycler serving the New England area. Their longtime commitment to high standards in dealings with their customers, as well as with the environment, is clearly evident and very much in keeping with the ideals of Team PRP.”
Owners Mark and Joan Brown opened Brown’s Auto Salvage in 1976. Knowing there was a need for used car parts along with the top-notch service and quality of a new auto parts store, they set about creating a superior, more advanced salvage yard business model.
Making customer satisfaction a priority, the Browns felt it especially important to ensure that their staff’s knowledge goes beyond the automotive and computer expertise needed to find and ship used parts nationwide. Additionally, the facility only seeks out late-model, low-mileage vehicles for their parts cars. When received, their dismantlers have been specially trained to remove, clean and inspect all used parts. When a part is sold, it is cleaned and inspected again before delivery.
Being a “green” operation is equally important to Brown’s. From initial intake of a vehicle to the actual delivery of parts, specialized environmentally sound practices are skillfully utilized. As a service to the community, Brown’s also accepts any auto from nearby residents, without charge. In 2002, Brown’s Auto Salvage was the proud recipient of the Vermont Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence in Pollution Prevention.
“We’re really excited to be a part of Team PRP,” said Mark Brown. “The fundamentals of Team PRP are the same as our business model. We’re really happy to be doing business with a nationwide group of recyclers who are trying to evolve and modernize, and offer better service to their customers.”
