Three Arizona Shops Earn ‘Green’ Certification Through State

The Automotive Service Association of Arizona (ASA-AZ) has announced that three member shops have been certified as "Green Shops" in partnership with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality’s Green Shop Program.

This is a voluntary program for environmentally friendly shops in the state of Arizona. The following shops join the list of 27 ASA shops that have been certified:

• Action Automotive, Peoria, Ariz. – Tom O’Kane, owner

• Firestone Complete Auto Care Centers

• One Stop Automotive, Tucson, Ariz. – Randall Miller, owner

To become certified, auto shops must accumulate at least 300 points on a checklist in various categories such as cleaning and degreasing and energy conservation created by ADEQ’s Pollution Prevention Program. The program requires auto shops to use low-hazard, low-pollution solvents or water-based cleaners; recycle waste fluids and oil; use energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning, among other requirements.
