capa-labelThe Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) recently announced a new labeling program for certified plastic parts that have a waterborne low volatile organic compound (VOC) primer. Tong Yang Industry Co., Ltd. is the first manufacturer in the CAPA program approved to use the new label.

To earn the approval to use the new label, Tong Yang’s primer underwent chemical testing for VOC content and was found to be in conformance with SCAQMD Rule 1115 Section 1(C), by the CAPA Validator, Intertek. Their waterborne primer process was also audited.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to use the new CAPA Waterborne Low VOC Primer on our CAPA Certified parts,” said Nick Sun, assistant vice president, Tong Yang Industry Co. Ltd. “In addition to showing our parts meet CAPA’s comprehensive certification requirements, we can also show our new primer meets industry acceptance criteria for low VOC emissions.”

Debbie Klouser, CAPA director of operations, added, “Tong Yang has participated in the CAPA Certification program since 1987, and we are happy to be able to support their continued growth with the our Waterborne Low VOC Primer label.”
