The Detroit News reported that U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said Jan. 7th, speaking to the media following a panel discussion at the CES technology trade show, that there are no plans for national legislation to regulate self-driving cars, and that those decisions are still best made on the state-by-state level.
There are still some in the automotive industry, The Detroit News reported, who would likely push for regulation of driverless car technology. During a roundtable discussion about driverless vehicles Jan. 6th, Audi AG executives noted that it’s difficult to test the latest technology due to the fact that each state has different rules.
