The Washington Metropolitan Auto Body Association (WMABA) recently elected its 2011 Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors welcomes back incumbent members: Brad Whiteford, president; Barry Dorn, vice president; John Krauss, treasurer; Don Beaver, secretary; and directors Aaron Schulenburg, Rodney Bolton, Geoff Brown, Ben Gibson, Dan Morrissey, Bobby Wright and Laura Gay. Torchy Chandler will continue as the immediate past president, and Kris Shannon was elected as new incoming director.
Chandler was recognized for her prior service as the first woman president of the association with a special award.
"I’m so surprised and flattered that the Board recognized me this way," Chandler said. "It was a tumultuous four years at the helm of the association, and I couldn’t have done any of it without those who were in service with me."
Re-elected President Brad Whiteford said, "I’m very honored that the Board feels that I’m capable to stay at the helm of such a wonderful organization. We’ve had a very busy year and I look forward to continuing the projects that we have in the works. I believe this coming year will see great strides in many areas of the association and what we accomplish for our membership."
The newest board member, Kris Shannon of Shannon Auto Body in Gaithersburg, Md., is returning to the Board after a one-year hiatus.
"This industry is in such an upset that I feel compelled to get involved," Shannon said. "Being at the state house when the Maryland bill was going through ignited my feelings about making a difference in the association. I’m happy to be back and look forward to all the good work we can do in the coming year."
