CARSTAR has announced the opening of CARSTAR Auto World Collision, located at 1100 San Mateo Avenue South, San Francisco, Calif.

Jason Wong, owner of CARSTAR Auto World Collision, entered the industry at a young age, washing cars at 16. Advancing to different roles in the repair world, Wong continued to evolve in the collision repair industry working as a prepper, painter and technician.

“I opened a small 1,500-square-foot repair center in my mid-twenties, thinking I knew everything about the industry and collision repair,” said Wong. “Twenty years and plenty of lessons later, I know the importance of OEM guidelines and employing the finest group I can find. I am extremely happy to join CARSTAR, as their support coupled with the exceptional team here not only make our customers happy but make our workplace a fun environment.”

CARSTAR Auto World Collision is a 17,000-square-foot aluminum-ready facility with the latest measuring and paint technology. Equipped to provide premier collision repairs on all makes and models, CARSTAR Auto World Collision is also I-CAR Gold and Volkswagen, Audi and Toyota certified. The stellar team at CARSTAR Auto World Collision drives the outstanding customer service and best-in-class repairs.

“Supporting franchise partners in their pursuit of excellence is a benefit of the CARSTAR network, as we provide resources that help stores further elevate their business,” said Michael Macaluso, president, CARSTAR. “We are excited to have Jason and his team join the CARSTAR network, as they already have taken full advantage of our resources and we know this will help propel them to a new level of profitability.”

Born and raised in San Francisco, Wong does whatever he can to give back to his home city. Supporting local homeless shelters, volunteering at various recovery centers and employing those in need are just some of the ways Wong contributes to the city he loves.

Exit Strategies: Personal Vision & Financial Planning

The most critical first step in an exit or transition plan is to develop a financial plan and personal vision of what your life will look like post-business.

Jerry was a 63-year-old auto body shop owner who contacted me regarding putting together an exit strategy. Like most shop owners, he had become tired of the day-to-day grind of dealing with the back-and-forth fights with the insurance carriers, yet he still loved the idea of being a part of a business he built from the ground up. Ideally, he would have liked his production manager, Evan, to become his heir apparent, yet he had no idea if Evan was interested in owning the shop or if he was even capable of doing so. His shop was a prime candidate for a consolidator, and he had received an offer from one, yet he cared about his employees and wanted to make sure they were taken care of. Also, he was unsure what he would do with himself if he did not have a place to go. He did not know where to turn.
