Matrix System Automotive Finishes has concluded its 2013 “Award Winning Finishes” Calendar Contest. This year’s competition included numerous entries of vehicles designed and painted by restoration, custom and body shop painters nationwide.
This year, winners were judged on finish quality, technical difficulty, design originality and artistic merit. Twelve winners were selected, with the first-place winner receiving $750 in Matrix System products and a featured spot inside the calendar.
The 2013 contest winners include first-place winner Carl Casey of Casey Customs in Verona, Mo., for his 1956 Chevy Cadillac; second-place winner Sam Shriver of Paintz by Sam in Plain City, Ohio, for his 2008 Harley-Davidson Street Glide; and third-place winner Mark Stoecker in West Melbourne, Fla., for his 1932 Ford Coupe.
Also winning spots in the calendar include Chris Henrietta Gooding, Idaho; Ed Sandy of Sandy’s Custom Painting Uniondale, Pa.; Jerry Parish Edmund, Okla.; Gary Zabrowski, Boogie’s Custom Creations Riverview, Mich.; Pat Paldino Worcester, Mass.; Art Hobbes, Hobbes Auto Body Shasta Lake, Calif.; Colby Valenti & Shannon Parker, Parker Brothers Concepts Melbourne, Fla.; John Patterson Ypsilanti, Mich.; and Lamar Nolley, Weber’s Paint & Body Cleveland, N.C.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Jerry McReath Falkville, Ala.; Chris Von Chytry, Mad Professor Customs Detroit, Mich.; Bruce Mann White Lake, Mich.; Rene Cueva, Cueva Custom Paint Canyon Lake, Texas; Don Marecle, Patty’s Rod Shop Cullman, Ala.; and Dan Lappin Brownstown, Mich..
