CARSTAR Adds Four-Store Pennsylvania MSO to Network

CARSTAR announced that Legacy Autobody Group is joining the CARSTAR family.

CARSTAR announced that Legacy Autobody Group is joining the CARSTAR family.

Legacy Autobody Group has four locations in Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania. The owners are Matt Dewalt, Eric Horvath, Michael Horvath and Robert Horvath.

The four facilities are:

  • CARSTAR Easton – Scott’s Collision
  • CARSTAR Stroudsburg – Scott’s Collision
  • CARSTAR Allentown – Duncan Autobody
  • CARSTAR Quakertown – Duncan Autobody

“By joining the CARSTAR network, Legacy Autobody can access the North American collision repair leader’s advanced tools, technology and training, along with a well-known brand, purchasing efficiencies, national insurance relationships and more,” CARSTAR said in a news release.

Legacy Autobody was formed when Duncan Autobody, with two locations in Allentown and Quakertown, Pa., and Scott’s Collision Centers, with two locations in Easton and Stroudsburg, merged in June 2017. The combined organization has more than $11 million in annual sales and more than 70 teammates at its four locations.

Both Scott’s Collision Centers and Duncan Autobody were founded in the early 1970s and have thrived since that time due to a reputation for high-quality repairs and superior customer service, according to CARSTAR. Scott’s Collision Centers, owned by Matt Dewalt, was founded by Matt’s father, Scott, in 1971. In 1998, Scott opened their current 21,000-square-foot facility in Easton. In 2007, they acquired their 14,000-square-foot Stroudsburg collision repair center.

Duncan Autobody, owned by brothers Eric and Mike Horvath, was founded in 1973 by Eric and Mike’s father Robert (Bob) Horvath and Luther (Dopey Duncan) Gehringer. Duncan Autobody has a 15,000-square-foot facility in Allentown, and in 2008, the Horvath family purchased their 8,000-square-foot Quakertown facility.

“The partnership that created these four new CARSTAR locations in Pennsylvania is an excellent example of our accelerated growth initiative, said Michael Macaluso, president of CARSTAR North America. “The families that comprise Legacy Autobody have a long history in this region, a tremendous reputation and excellent experience.  With them, we look forward to continuing to provide the highest-quality collision repairs and excellent customer service for drivers in the region.”
