PPG Sponsors Speedway Children’s Charities

PPG Industries’ Automotive Refinish business announced its support of Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC). The charity, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, provides funding for hundreds of non-profit organizations across the United States that address the direct educational, medical, social and financial needs of children.

“All of us at SCC are excited to have PPG as a sponsor,” said Saundy Hutto, national director of new business development and marketing for SCC. “They’ve been very enthusiastic about becoming involved with us, and it’s genuinely inspiring to have a company as caring as PPG on board. With their support, we’ll be able to do even more to help children in need.”

SCC was founded in 1982 by Bruton Smith, chairman of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI) and Sonic Automotive, as a tribute to his son, Bruton Cameron Smith, who died at a young age. Bruton was passionate about wanting to help children and established SCC to support local charities in communities around his SMI race tracks. Since its founding, SCC has funded thousands of organizations to ensure every child in need be given the tools to build a better, brighter and healthy future.

PPG will lend its support and resources to SCC, helping it to organize and sponsor fundraising events through the charity’s chapters.

“We are very happy to have the opportunity to work with this tremendous organization,” said Bryan Robinson, manager of business development for PPG. “The people of Speedway Children’s Charities do an incredible job. They are highly motivated and their hearts are in the right place. PPG looks forward to a long and rewarding relationship and helping SCC with their mission of helping children nationwide.”

Working through its seven chapters, SCC annually supports more than 400 local non-profit organizations through generous grants. Each chapter determines the needs of its surrounding communities and helps fund organizations that directly address the challenges children face as a result of broken homes, learning disabilities and illness.
