As part of giving back to the communities its serves, Valley Motor Center of Van Nuys, Calif., refurbished a 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan and donated it to ONEgeneration, a local charity, on Nov. 23 as part of the National Auto Body Council (NABC) Recycled Rides program.
Among its many services, ONEgeneration provides and delivers hot meals to people who can not afford it or who are homebound, with more than 175,000 delivered last year. Thus, the “new” vehicle this non-profit organization now owns will not only get meals to those in great need throughout the San Fernando Valley, but will also be used for adult daycare, childcare, healthcare and many other good works, Valley Motor Center says.
“Our goal is to help as many people in our local community as possible by donating a vehicle to ONEgeneration, an organization that operates right here in the communities we serve,” said Marsh Gluchow, owner of Valley Motor Center. “It is truly our privilege to be a part of this wonderful cause.”
To help kick off Valley Motor Center’s charitable donation, County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, Assemblyman Bob Blumenfield and Councilman Dennis Zine all spoke, as well as Marsh Gluchow, owner of Valley Motor Center, Larry Gordon, CEO of ONEgeneration and Landon Thompson, Auto Damage manager of GEICO Insurance.
“We’re excited about participating in Recycled Rides,” said Bria Verdugo-Uy, development officer of ONEgeneration. “Valley Motor Center has a long history of helping those in need in their community, and we’re proud that they chose us to be a recipient of this vehicle. We’ll work diligently to make sure the van they are donating to us is put to its very best use and allows us to help as many people as we can.”
