Ohio-Area Repair Groups Hold Successful Joint Seminar

On June 5, 84 shop owners and employees from four surrounding states met in Columbus, Ohio, for an eight-hour jointly sponsored seminar. It was a day packed full of industry information. The seminar was a joint effort of four regional organizations comprised of the Choice Autobody Repair Association (CARA), US Alliance of Collision Professionals (USACP), ASA of Ohio and ASC Kentucky.

Dave Weber of Weber’s Body & Frame, Inc. in West Alexandria, Ohio started the day with an interactive forum on the proper use of estimating software systems, familiarizing yourself with the P-pages and considerations when using alternative parts. Erica Eversman of Vehicle Information Services, Inc. in Bath, Ohio spoke in the afternoon on the legal and ethical positions shop owners and managers are in when dealing with customers and insurance companies. She also spoke on pending legislation and court cases past and present taking issue around the nation.

“We are pleased to have such an impressive turnout for a Saturday in June. An event of this kind has been a long time coming”, says USACP President Phil Mosley.

CARA President Rick Finney added, “We’re thrilled to see so many body shops interested in continuing education. By perfecting our estimating skills and becoming more aware of legal ramification concerning repairs we will increase our ability to better serve the consumer.”

Due to overwhelming response from those in attendance, the group says there will be more joint educational seminars held in the near future.
