Vo-Tech Students Gain Valuable Experience Repairing Police Vehicles

In this economy, every city could use help balancing its
budget and cutting costs where necessary. Enter the students at Cumberland
County Technical Education Center in Bridgeton, New Jersey, who recently helped
patch up vehicles for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Talk about a win-win situation: the kids got valuable
experience, and the sheriff’s department got its cars back on the road for less
money. The department paid for parts and materials and the labor was free. The
aspiring collision repairers sharpened their skills with an eye toward working
at a top-rate shop some day.

The cop cars, which the sheriff’s department is hanging
on to longer due to the economy, got much needed body work and refinish which
will send them a long ways down the road.

"We’re hoping to do work for other county agencies
to help them save money," school principal Dr. Todd Bonsall told the Daily
Journal
