The Chatham Daily News is calling an employee of a Kent Bridge, Ontario body shop a hero after he pulled a man and woman from their mangled vehicle following a fiery wreck with a truck.
Derek Willemsen, 29, heard the crash from his shop and thought it was just another minor wreck, but then he saw the fire and large truck "straddling" a car and ran to the scene before anyone else.
Apparently, Willemsen got a male passenger out with ease, but in order to get a female passenger out, he had to rip the rear door off.
"I’ve heard some people refer to me as a hero," Willemsen told the Daily News. "I don’t consider myself a hero I had plenty of help."
