AASP-MN Introduces Free Membership for Member Employees

In an effort to expand its outreach and service to Minnesota’s automotive service industry, the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers (AASP-MN) has announced the introduction of an individual membership segment. The membership will be free to employees of Regular (collision/mechanical shop) or Associate (supplier) members of the Association. Membership dues for an individual who is employed by an automotive business that is not a member of AASP-MN will cost $25 annually.

Individual membership will provide direct access to information about the events, activities and initiatives that the association undertakes on behalf of Minnesota’s automotive service industry.
Individual members will receive a monthly E-Newsletter as well as online access to the wealth of information and resources found in the Members Only Resource Library at www.aaspmn.org.  Future benefits may include events specific to job roles (technician, service advisor/estimator, manager) that will allow individual members to connect with – and learn from – others who share the same job duties.

Judell Anderson, AASP-MN Executive Director, said “Engaging more members of the industry will mean increasing knowledge sharing, networking and generation of new ideas. It will also allow us to add those voices as we advocate on behalf of independently-owned automotive service businesses with state legislators and regulators."

“As an owner, I devote a lot of my time to following and supporting the events and initiatives of AASP-MN," said Roger Bonn, immediate past president. “However, my employees often don’t know or understand the ramifications of the Association’s efforts for their own work life. A direct membership will facilitate that understanding and also allow them to connect with others in the industry who do what they do.”

Denise Koukal, director of operations at LaMettry’s Collision, with six locations in the Twin Cities area, earned the distinction of becoming AASP-MN’s first individual member. Upon learning about the opportunity at the Association’s golf outing, she signed up on the spot.

Koukal says, “I’m very excited about this new membership opportunity, and I’m looking forward to participating as a member. It’s a great way for me to directly connect to all that AASP-MN has to offer, meet new people and associate with the many industry peers that are fellow members."
