AkzoNobel Reports 10,000 Downloads and Counting for iMatchColor App

iMatchColor, the smartphone app that provides access to the Sikkens Mixit Online color retrieval system of AkzoNobel Automotive & Aerospace Coatings (A&AC), recently passed the milestone of 10,000 downloads in one year’s time, the company announced. A&AC added that it has launched iMatchColor versions for more mobile operating systems and has introduced French, Dutch, Swedish and Korean language versions of Mixit Online. Improvements have also been made in the Japanese language implementation of Mixit Online, AkzoNobel noted.

iMatchColor was originally launched in the summer of 2010 as an app for the iPhone. At the same time, A&AC introduced a smartphone friendly interface for Mixit Online, providing easy access from Windows Mobile, Windows Phone 7 and Android operating systems. iMatchColor is now available as an app for all Android mobile phones and within a few weeks also for most of the Blackberry models.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the success of iMatchColor and Sikkens Mixit Online over the last twelve months,” says Color Marketing Director Ben Zweers. “Giving our customers 24-hour access to our color database via their mobile phones means our customers can do their job better wherever in the world they may be and whenever they wish to do so. And by making the software available in more languages, we are able to extend the convenience of Mixit Online into more and more markets.”

AkzoNobel says it’s making use of a new translation platform to speed up the introduction of more languages for Mixit Online. Using a global template, local organizations provide the key input to ensure accurate translations. With this new translation process in place, even more languages will be introduced in the coming months, the company said.

“Our goal with Mixit Online, as it is with all of our color support services, it to help our customers gain a competitive edge by focusing on their needs,” says Zweers. “We want to make sure that they have all the resources to get color right, the first time, every time.”
