The Automotive Service Association of Missouri/Kansas (ASA Mo/Kan) has obtained the services of Bob Smith and Storm Appraisal & Management Service, Inc., as a collision industry consultant. Smith will assist in the formation of collision chapters and activities throughout Missouri and Kansas. Chapters in Wichita, Kan., and the Kansas City metropolitan area are first on the priority list. Chapter meetings in these areas will begin within the first quarter of 2009.
“Bob Smith has 43 years of experience in the collision industry on both the regional and national level that will enhance ASA Mo/Kan’s representation of the collision industry,” said Sheri Hamilton, ASA Mo/Kan executive director.
Smith has previously served at both regional and national levels on various boards of directors of several collision repair organizations. For the past several years, he has worked as a lobbyist in Missouri and Kansas on behalf of the collision repair industry. He has not only lobbied nationally at industry events for fairness in the repair industry, but has been instrumental in the introduction of several bills in the legislature relative to the industry and has opposed legislation that would have been detrimental to the industry, ASA Mo/Kan says.
“Being a part of the collision industry for most of my life, I became aware of many fine people who work in this industry and the issues they face. Storm wanted to bring these issues to light and help improve conditions in the industry,” Smith said. “When approached by ASA Mo/Kan to work with them on collision matters, we were extremely happy to be able to be of assistance to the association.”
Smith’s industry-related activities have earned him many honors from national organizations and induction into the Collision Industry Hall of Eagles, one of the highest honors that the industry can bestow. Smith presently serves on the CAPA technical committee and the advisory board of the Herndon Career Technical School.
