I-CAR Education Foundation Recognizes Its Volunteers With Awards

In the spring, the I-CAR Education Foundation awarded more than $100,000 in student scholarships, instructor training grants and curriculum grants with the help of industry support through fundraisers, donations and volunteered time. Because of the amount of effort put in by I-CAR volunteers, the I-CAR Education Foundation created special awards to recognize their efforts. The awards were presented at the I-CAR Annual Meeting and will be housed at the I-CAR Training Support Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

“On behalf of the Education Foundation staff, I want to congratulate the winners of the Zone of the Year and Committee of the Year Awards,” said Melissa Marscin, I-CAR Education Foundation Development Administrator. “These award recipients have truly embraced what the Education Foundation is doing to help career and technical schools and colleges across North America.”

Zone of the Year Award winner: Eastern Zone

There were several criteria that went into the selection of the Zone of the Year. The Education Foundation chose a Zone that embraced the new mission of the foundation. Its members raised a great deal of money for the campaign and also helped to spread the word about what the Education Foundation is trying to accomplish.

I-CAR Committee of the Year winners:
Eastern – Broward County I-CAR Committee
Central – Chicago West I-CAR Committee
Western – Phoenix I-CAR Committee

Theses awards recognize individual I-CAR committees that went above and beyond to support their local career and technical schools and colleges. Each committee raised funds through various fundraisers and schools received the curriculum and training aids that the needed as a result of their efforts.

If you are interested in hosting a fundraising event, please contact the I-CAR Education Foundation at (888) 722-3787 ext. 282. For information on how to donate to programs supported by the education foundation, visit www.ed-foundation.org.
