Kaeser Compressors recently partnered with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR program. According to the EPA, an ENERGY STAR partnership offers businesses an energy management strategy that helps in measuring current energy performance, setting goals, tracking savings and rewarding improvements.
Kaeser says that its ENERGY STAR partnership will help the company communicate the importance of energy management to the industrial marketplace and increase the national statistics for energy savings in the coming years. With the help of ENERGY STAR, Americans saved about $16 billion on their 2007 energy bills while reducing the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 27 million vehicles, according to the EPA.
Kaeser says it prides itself on a long-standing commitment to the environment and energy management, and the company is an Allied Partner with the Department of Energy and an ISO 14001 Environmental certified company.
“Our commitment to energy management extends beyond our products and services,” said general manager and executive vice president Frank Mueller. “The design for our headquarters expansion includes many energy-saving elements, and our employees actively participate in energy and waste reduction programs.”
The Kaeser headquarters expansion now underway in Fredericksburg, Va., will include a Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO) roof to reflect sunlight rather than absorb it like other types of roofs. The design also includes an efficient underfloor-air-distribution system and daylighting. The result is less energy required to heat, cool and illuminate the building. Current recycling and conservation programs are in place for batteries, cellular phones, computer equipment, electricity and more.
