Matrix System Announces U‐22 Hydroplane Sponsorship

Matrix System Automotive Finishes announced that for the third consecutive year, it is one of the  title sponsors for the Webster Racing U‐22 unlimited hydroplane during the 2011 race season.

Mike Webster, age 31, from the Reading, Pa. area is the professional driver of the U‐22 and has been racing boats since the age of 10. He is considered one of the youngest national champions in the sport and won his first national title at age 15. Webster also won national and world titles in 2004 and 2005 and earned 2009 Rookie of the Year honors.

This year is a different story for Webster Racing, as they had one of the busiest off‐seasons of all the H1 Unlimited teams, making the trip from their home in Pennsylvania to Madison, Ind., to retrieve the Miss Madison Oh Boy Oberto backup hull to campaign during 2011. Readying the U‐22 in time for the opening round in Madison has involved intense preparation and team owners Steve and Sue Webster are looking forward to the possibility of podium finishes during the coming season.

Driver Mike Webster commented on the many changes between the old hull and the new “Oberto” hull, including the built‐in fan base for his new ride. The new boat also received a fresh new paint scheme using a combination of Matrix System’s single stage and premium basecoat products.

During the 2011 race season, Webster Racing will participate in the Madison, Ind., Regatta July 1-3; The Detroit Yacht Club APBA Gold Cup, Detroit, Mich., July 8-10; Lamb Weston Columbia Cup – Tri-Cities, Wash., July 29‐31; Albert Lee Cup at Seafair ‐ Seattle, Wash., Aug. 5‐7; Air National Guard Championship – San Diego, Calif., Sept. 16‐18; and the World Championship ‐ Doah, Qatar, Nov. 17‐19.
