Ohio Body Shop Investigated for Fraud

During a search of the shop and a nearby residence, authorities seized a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1965 Ford Mustang and 1986 Chevy Camaro, along with various parts, business records and computers.

The Richland County, Ohio, Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible fraud case involving Independent Auto Body in Shelby, Ohio. The Mansfield News Journal reported that during a search of the shop and a nearby residence, authorities seized a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1965 Ford Mustang and 1986 Chevy Camaro, along with various parts and accessories, business records and computers.

No arrests were made relating to the investigation.

The investigation is a joint operation involving the sheriff’s office, prosecutor’s office, the newly formed Economic Crimes Division of the Attorney General’s Office, the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, the National Insurance Crime Bureau, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Taxation Enforcement Division and the Ohio Collision Repair Board, according to the newspaper.
