PPG MVP Business Solutions Conference Workshops Themed ‘Journey to Excellence’

Registration is now open for the PPG MVP Business Solutions conference for collision shop owners and managers at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Palm Springs, Calif., from March 27-29. Complementing an impressive lineup of internationally renowned keynote speakers and informative seminars, PPG says the conference will also include interactive workshops designed to provide participants with practical applications for their collision center operations.

To continue bringing leading-edge lean thinking to PPG MVP customers, the workshops will focus heavily on throughput and lean applications. Workshops offered include:

• The Lean Journey in Collision – A road map to implementation
The lean journey is one of continuous improvement. The Lean Journey in Collision workshop will review an implementation plan that can be used as a starting point for those who are beginning to apply lean processes or as a benchmark for those who need to get back on track. Workshop highlights include leadership and training, implementation planning, X-ray repair planning, 5S and workplace organization, and value stream mapping.

• Value Stream Mapping – Using the power of the value stream map to align your organization around the greatest waste elimination opportunity
Value stream mapping is a way of aligning your organization and eliminating waste. Collision center owners and managers know changes to their shop processes must be made to obtain improvement, however change can be difficult. It is important that collision centers develop a way of routinely evaluating where their real next opportunity lies in eliminating waste from the collision center process. The Value Stream Mapping workshop will include exercises around the construction of a value stream map with participants using their own shop data to develop a map to illustrate their performance.

• Load Leveling – The impact of leveling volume and mix to a process with practical applications in collision repair
Most, if not all, collision centers face load-leveling issues and significant variation in workflow, including the classic dilemma of over-scheduling production for fear of losing a repair to a competitor. The Load Leveling workshop will look at the effect that variation in work volume and mix has on the production process and will explore practical workload leveling systems that have been used successfully in collision centers.
