PPG Unveils 2011 SEMA Attractions

Celebrities, show cars and motorcycles, custom-painted auto hoods, new paint products and more will be featured at the PPG booth at the 2011 SEMA Show Nov. 1-4 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The PPG booth, 24501, is designed as a retro body shop, Johnny O’s Collision & Customs. At the booth, show visitors will be able to meet custom car world superstars and PPG devotees including Charley Hutton, Bobby Alloway, and Tom and Mitch Kelly. Painters Hutton (Charley Hutton’s Color Studio) and the Kellys (Kelly & Son the Crazy Painters) are well-known and highly respected for their distinctive paint designs and applications, PPG says. Custom rod builder Alloway (Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop) is the 2011 Autorama Builder of the Year.

Hutton will also lead two seminars about painting techniques with Vibrance Collection waterborne products.

Three PPG-painted street rods will be exhibited: a blue 1959 Ford Ranch Wagon complete with ghosted graphics, a PPG Goodguys Paint Pick 1957 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron, and the topaz-finished Imperial Speedster, the custom sports car Chrysler never built.

Two award-winning Steele Kustoms motorcycles – including the first-ever Detroit Autorama Grand Master winner – will add even more color to the display.

PPG is also featuring an array of car hoods painted by a number of automotive artists: Fred Scioli, Killer Kreations; Troy Lee, Troy Lee Designs; Tom and Bubba, Bubba’s East Coast Rods & Customs; Bill Steele, Steele Kustoms; Ryan Korek, Korek Designs; Pete Santini, Auto Art Studios; Tom Kelly and Mitch Kelly, and Charley Hutton, along with PPG’s own Paul Stoll, Jeff Matauch, Chris Springer, John Snyder, Jim Kvatek and Jeremy Seanor.

In addition, PPG says it will present its new Deltron DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clear with "superfast" air-dry capability along with other powder coating and Transitions lens technologies. PPG representatives will be on hand to discuss the company’s product lines and answer any questions attendees may have.
