Shop Owner Discusses His Success in Progressive Suit in Podcast

Shop owner Greg Coccaro tells the story of how he successfully defended himself against fraud charges leveled against him by Progressive Insurance in a new podcast from Scene Genesis. Coccaro, owner of North State Custom Auto in Bedford Hills, New York, triumphed when a New York Supreme Court judge tossed out Progressive’s case this month.

The story has important implications for insurers, body shops and consumers who trust their insurer to choose a collision repair facility that will do safe, high-quality repairs —something that doesn’t always happen, Coccaro says. The victory cost Coccaro $400,000 in legal fees over three years. His suit against Progressive for alleged steering is pending.

This is the latest of “Topics in Ten,” Scene Genesis’ monthly podcast that brings opinions and ideas to the collision-repair industry. The podcast can be heard on www.scenengenesis.com.  Click on “About Us,” “Press Room,” then “Podcasts.”
