STRANGE BUT TRUE: UK Glass Chain Cracks Up At Damaged Windshields

Shoes, sneezes and high expectations for hand cream – customers really can come up with strange excuses for busted windshields. Auto Windscreens, one of the UK’s top glass repair and replacement chains, has released the top five most bizarre causes its customers have cited for their cars’ damaged glass.

Bad barrier cream – A woman smeared her windshield with hand-protecting barrier cream following her son’s sarcastic advice that it would help the faulty parking lot barrier gate at her office go up more easily.

“Unsurprisingly, it didn’t,” the company quipped.

Panties in a bunch – A customer reported that her windshield wipers had jammed. Upon inspection, a technician found that a pair of underwear, which the woman had used to clean her windshield that morning, was tangled in the wipers.

Careening candy – While driving, a customer sneezed with such force that a mint he was sucking on shot out of his mouth and cracked his windshield.

A total “duh” – A customer reported that the passenger window on his new car had been broken, only for the technician to point out that he had in fact put his power window down without realizing it.

Kicking back – Auto Windscreens says that the pointy heels of stiletto shoes account for an alarming number of damaged windshields, with most of the damage happening from inside the vehicle.
