CAPA Adds ABRA’s Tim Adelmann to Board of Directors

Executive vice president of business development for 124-store MSO fills position vacated by retired shop owner Mike West.

CAPA has announced that it has elected Tim Adelmann, executive vice president of business development at ABRA Auto Body and Glass to its board of directors. Adelmann was elected to the collision repairer position vacated by Mike West, who recently retired and closed his shop in Tukwila, Wash.

"Tim Adelmann is a long-standing and respected leader in the collision repair industry, and we’re excited to have him join CAPA’s efforts to insure that the market has truly high quality alternative parts," said Jack Gillis, CAPA’s executive director. "Tim will be a valuable resource as CAPA continues to expand on its diversity of standards and growth in part availability."

Adelmann opened the second ABRA repair center in 1985 as general manager. Shortly thereafter, he became vice president of operations and, in 1997, was named chief operating officer, a position he held until July 2004. During that time, he oversaw ABRA’s growth from two repair centers to 88. In July 2004, he assumed the role of executive vice president of business development and works strategically and operationally with ABRA’s clients. Prior to joining ABRA, he was the production and quality manager for Micromedics Corporation in St. Paul, Minn.

Adelmann also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Collision Repair Education Foundation and Creative Living, a Columbus, Ohio, non-profit organization encouraging independent living for adults with severe physical disabilities. He maintains several strategic partnerships with insurance advisory councils throughout the industry.

“Tim brings an extraordinary amount of ‘hands-on’ knowledge of the repair shop industry to CAPA’s Board," said Clark Plucinski, president of CAPA’s Board of Directors. "We’re thrilled to have Tim join CAPA’s efforts to protect both the market and consumers from poor quality parts.”
