A recent telephone survey of member shops conducted by the Nebraska Auto Body Association (NABA) has revealed that parts bidding initiatives are the single most important issue facing collision repairers today.
More than 42 percent of respondents cited parts bidding initiatives among the three top industry issues. Twenty-eight percent of respondents specifically identified State Farm by name, while an additional 14 percent referred only to generic "parts bidding" when asked to rate the three top industry issues that concern them most.
Steering ranked in the No. 2 spot, with 25 percent of respondents identifying it as one of the three top industry issues. Twenty percent of respondents said insurer reimbursements were one of the top three issues.
“Repairers clearly have a number of concerns that need to be addressed,” said NABA Director Norbert Zaenglein. “The parts bidding initiative has been a wake-up call for the industry. This won’t be the last insurer intrusion into the business of collision repair, and only a robust association with active member involvement can address the crucial issues facing the industry.”
