Keenan Auto Body, Inc., an 11-shop operation in Philadelphia and a member of the National Auto Body Council (NABC), has officially started its drive to raise money for NABC’s Operation Comfort initiative.
Founded in 2004, Operation Comfort is a 501 C-3 organization that provides opportunities for wounded service members to participate in rehabilitative, adaptive sports and Automotivation a program where the wounded can work on cars. Operation Comfort also provides family financial assistance and therapeutic trips, emphasizing that an injury is not the end, but a new beginning.
NABC is committed to delivering advanced, on-the-job, continuing education courses along with a support facility for disabled military veterans. The goal is to raise $1.5 million to purchase, renovate and fully equip the 30,000-square-foot training facility in San Antonio, Texas to house the Automotivation Program.
“I have to admit, the first time I heard about this program and the goal amount of $1.5 million, I was a little intimidated,” said Craig Camacho, marketing director for Keenan Auto Body and current NABC board member. “I felt that, for this initiative to be implemented successfully, we would all have to play a part and come together as an industry to make this goal come to a successful fruition."
Added Mike LeVasseur, Keenan Auto Body president and COO, “We believe in this program and appreciate the opportunity to give back to those who have given so much. We have moved forward by equipping all 11 of our lobbies with donation pads and freestanding posters that depict exactly what the program is all about. We’re also matching dollar for dollar everything we raise.”
Keenan plans on running the fundraising campaign until the goal of $1.5 million has been met.
