Ohio Body Shop Owner Creates Collision App for Consumers

Instant Crash Helpers program will allow non-DRP body shops to give consumers involved in crashes the help they need without insurance interference.

Bob Juniper of Three-C Body Shop envisioned a mobile application drivers could use after enduring a collision – just press a button and all the hassles of the accident are taken care of for you. That vision is now the Pink Button app.

The Pink Button has been so beneficial to Three-C and its customers, Juniper claims, that he has partnered with the Columbus, Ohio technology firm Rampart to create Instant Crash Helpers. Instant Crash Helpers is a program targeted at a select group of collision repair facilities around the country that want to bring the advantages of a post-accident mobile app to their body shops.

Juniper states that Instant Crash Helpers is “perfect” for body shops like his that emphasize higher quality repairs and are not part of – or don’t want to be part of – DRPs. Body shops that use Instant Crash Helpers will be able to offer their customers a customized and branded app just like Three-C Body Shop’s Pink Button app.

After an accident, the customer opens the app, which they have previously downloaded for free. The app automatically sends the driver’s GPS coordinates to the body shop, alerting it of their need for assistance. The app displays a map that shows a tow truck approaching the location of the accident. Other automated features include sending automated text messages to family members, contacting rental car companies if the shop isn’t sending one from its own fleet and beginning the repair process through the customer’s insurance company.

“This nearly instantaneous process is perfect for quality collision repair shops that want to conduct private business,” said Juniper. “It prevents the insurance company from imposing one of its ‘preferred shops’ on a flustered driver who may not even be aware of their rights to choose the body shop they want. One of the most important outcomes is that this app will enable you to differentiate your shop as the one that takes customer service seriously.”
