Longtime repairer Rick Finney and other members of the Choice Autobody Repair Association (CARA) are hard at work educating consumers on their rights regarding collision repair. Part of the battle is getting the word out to the masses, and CARA did just that by telling its story to The Times-Reporter of Dover-New Philadelphia, Ohio, which recently published an interview with Finney.
The article, titled "Group Dents Auto Body ‘Myths,’" quoted Finney as saying, “In Ohio, if you’re in an accident, you can get your car fixed
anywhere you want. You don’t have to go to this shop or
that shop because the insurance company says so. You also don’t have to
get two or three estimates. Under state law, you only have to get one
estimate. There’s a lot of misconceptions out there. That’s what led to
this.”
"This" is the formation of CARA, a group with the goal of educating consumers so they not the insurance company make decisions regarding their auto repair.
