Keenan Auto Body, Inc., a member of the National Auto Body Council (NABC), was one of 175 collision repairers throughout the country who took part of the 2011 Recycled Rides program.
Recycled Rides is a community awareness project whereby NABC participating shops receive insurance company donated vehicles, repair them and recycle them to families in need through local charities.
"We chose the Delaware USO this year due to their process of picking a deserving recipient," said Craig Camacho, Keenan’s marketing director.
Geico Insurance Co. donated the 2003 Dodge Durango to Keenan’s facility located in Middletown, Del. LKQ Corp., Keystone Automotive, Don Houck Parts, Fred Beans Parts and 1800-Charity Cars donated their time and the parts needed to make this year’s program a success, according to Keenan.
"This was our fifth successful year being part of Recycled Rides, and our staff couldn’t be more dedicated," said Mike LeVasseur, Keenan Auto Body president and COO.
The SUV was donated to Michelle Walker of the U.S. National Guard. Walker has been a member of the National Guard since 1994, has three children and was taking the bus to work. She was chosen through the Delaware USO.
The USO’s mission is to enhance the quality of life of the U.S. Armed Forces personnel and their families worldwide and to create a cooperative relationship between U.S. military communities and involved supporting civilian communities.
