CARSTAR of Northwest Indiana Raises $18,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation

Annual charity golf outing generated enough funds to grant three wishes.

CARSTAR of Northwest Indiana held its seventh annual charity golf outing benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana – Indiana Region. The event, which was hosted at Youche Country Club, had more than 60 hole sponsors and 139 golf participants. With the help of many generous donations and corporate sponsors such as 3M, BASF, CCC, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Finishmaster and Alkon, CARSTAR generated enough funds to grant three wishes. The $18,000 check was presented to Make-A-Wish.

The first wish was for Matt, an 8-year-old boy from Hobart who wished to visit Florida theme parks. Matt is a caring, imaginative boy who loves building things and playing soccer. He is most excited to visit Universal Studios Florida on his trip. Matt was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a cancer of the white blood cells.

Jacob, a 6-year-old also from Hobart, is excited to go on a Walt Disney Cruise with his family. He wants to meet Mickey Mouse and go on “Mickey’s Big Boat." Jacob has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a disease that is marked by a progressive loss of muscle function.

The third wish will go to Prestin, an 11-year-old LaPorte boy. Prestin’s wish is to swim with dolphins. Prestin was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of cancerous brain tumor.

“CARSTAR is humbled to be a part of something this big," said Charlotte Hess, marketing manager for CARSTAR. "It is our honor to partner with so many great people in order to grant three wishes. We are already looking forward to next year. Who knows, maybe four wishes?”
