I-CAR Announces Enhancements to Two Professional Development Courses

Updates for Adhesive Bonding (ADH01) and Steel Sectioning Qualification Test (SPS05) include Live Demo format, in-shop training and testing.

I-CAR has enhanced two of its Professional Development Program course offerings: Adhesive Bonding (ADH01) and the Steel Sectioning Qualification Test (SPS05). Both enhanced courses are available now and registration is open.

With the addition of “Live Demos” to the ADH01 course, the organization says students will be able to benefit from an interactive training experience that supports increased student engagement in the classroom and more effective and retained learning. Live demonstrations provide students the opportunity to experience firsthand how to properly prepare parts and use adhesive materials.

“The demonstrations in the course simulate adhesive bonding procedures using two-part adhesives and will present the steps for an adhesive that is applied to bare metal, as well as the steps for an adhesive that requires a primed mating surface,” said David Wolf, I-CAR instructional designer.

In addition to the new Live Demo delivery format for ADH01, I-CAR has also updated its SPS05 test. Students will benefit from a training and testing experience that more closely represents common structural repair procedures. Enhancements include updated rail design, material thickness and welds.

Another benefit to the SPS05 training experience is that training and testing take place in-shop, so students use the tools and equipment that they work with regularly.

“The Steel Sectioning Qualification Test is an excellent way to help verify that technicians are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to improve their in-shop performance and to reinforce the importance of following proper repair procedures,” said Jason Bartanen, director of industry technical relations. “A technician’s ability to properly perform sectioning procedures extends well beyond the shop floor. Improper repairs can impact the structural integrity of the vehicle, passenger safety and airbag performance.”
