SCRS to Cover Estimating, Blueprinting and Billing During SEMA RDE Sessions

The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) will focus on damage analysis and cost assessment during the upcoming Repairer Driven Education series at the 2013 SEMA Show. The four-day show opens Nov. 5, and is held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

"Good estimates can’t be formulated without in-depth knowledge of required operations and the technology that drives them," said SCRS Vice Chairman Andy Dingman. "Understanding the physical requirements of the repair process and what the manufacturers expect that process to look like is probably the most critical foundation for success in writing accurate repair plans."

Sessions on Tuesday such as "Accessing OEM Repair Information" with Toby Chess, "Damage Report Writing Case Study" with Larry Montanez of P&L Consultants and "Modern Bonding and Riveting, Today and Tomorrow" with Dave Gruskos of Reliable Automotive Equipment (RAE) each seek to address the foundational understanding of how repair necessities impact the creation of a thoroughly constructed repair plan.

On Wednesday, Mark Mueller of PPG Automotive Refinish delivers a newly enhanced custom offering of "X-Ray Estimating, An Ace up Your Sleeve for Performance Improvement." This session focuses on an approach that changes the estimating paradigm to decrease the margin for error in the damage analysis and the potential cycle time of repairs. Thursday’s "Maximizing Efforts Through Blueprinting and Shop Layout" with Tim Morgan of Spanesi Americas looks at the changing design of today’s repair strategies and the impact that both pre-repair planning and facility layout can have on reducing waste in the process.

And on Friday, legal specialist Erica Eversman, J.D., of Vehicle Information Services delivers a program highlighting repairers’ success increasing rates received for labor and materials, and obtaining payment for necessary repair procedures. The session "Want Higher Rates? Obtain Payment for Necessary Repair Procedures" will help enable repairers to identify weaknesses in their strategies for obtaining payment for work being performed.

"Our objective since the beginning has been to ensure that collision repairers who have invested in participating in the SEMA Show will leave with tangible and useful information that can be directly applied to their business upon their return home," said SCRS Chairman Ron Reichen. "We are very thankful to be able to include such interesting and diverse programs in this focus area. We believe this information will bolster the positive impact our front-end staff can have on the preliminary analysis of damage, and ultimately, on our businesses’ bottom lines."
