Photo provided by Joel Gausten, TGP Inc.The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) has announced the selection of its 2014-2015 Board of Directors, which took place during their annual election on Tuesday, April 8 at the Red Lion Hotel on the River – Jantzen Beach in Portland, Ore.

The electoral slate included six candidates running for four positions, comprised of four incumbents and two new individuals who were proposed by the SCRS Nominations Committee. All incumbents were re-elected by the membership, demonstrating a member-driven support for leadership from the current SCRS Board of Directors. While there are no new board members, the new nominees will find places of involvement on SCRS committees to become further entrenched in SCRS activity as they seek board positions at future elections.

"We are excited the membership has recognized the efforts of our leadership team," said SCRS Executive Director Aaron Schulenburg. "The results of this election really instill a sense of confidence that we are serving our members in the appropriate manner, and that this strong and diverse group of thoughtful and articulate collision repair representatives is well-suited for their positions."

SCRS bylaws allow elected board members to hold executive positions for a maximum of two one-year terms, and each member of the Executive Committee was eligible to maintain their current position. There were no changes to the SCRS Executive Committee.

A complete list of the current SCRS Board of Directors is as follows:

  • Ron Reichen, chairman
  • Andy Dingman, vice chairman
  • Kye Yeung, secretary
  • Rodes Brown, treasurer
  • Aaron Clark, immediate past chairman
  • Brett Bailey, director at large
  • Luis Alonzo, national director
  • Paul Val, national director
  • Dustin Womble, national director
  • C.J. Vermaak, national director
  • Domenic Brusco, national director
  • Bruce Halcro, national director
  • Jim Sowle, national director

"I’ve accomplished a great deal in my career, but nothing quite compares to the work that we tackle at SCRS," said Chairman Ron Reichen. "I am fortunate to be surrounded by brilliant and hardworking individuals who have dedicated themselves to rolling up their sleeves and going to work for the industry we all love. It is an honor to carry forward with that work, and to receive such support and confidence from our members."

Though elected to a new three-year term, Reichen is serving his final eligible year as chairman. The remainder of his term will be appointed to a replacement candidate by the incoming chairman.

Last year, National Director Jim Sowle was appointed to the remainder of Immediate Past Chairman Aaron Clark’s term.

"This past year has been such an enormous eye-opening experience for me into how engaged this board is on the issues of national importance to the industry," said Sowle. "Like many of our members, I attentively followed the association’s activity and worked to be involved as frequently as I could, but it wasn’t until I joined the Board that I really could appreciate how much work this group does quietly in the background to make our industry, and our members’ businesses, more successful. For anyone who has a desire to be a part of something bigger that makes a difference outside of your own four walls, this is where it happens."

Nominations Committee Chairman and second-generation SCRS National Director Dusty Womble encourages those with similar interests in leadership positions to become engaged now.

"Almost everyone sitting around this table was involved in SCRS activity long before running for the board of directors," he said. "This group is fortunate to have regular interest from new volunteers, and the position requires a great deal of commitment and involvement. Attending the quarterly meetings and interacting with the board and membership is one of the best ways to make sure that future potential candidates have the time, energy and support at home necessary for board members to be successful in their term. I’m honored to be able to continue on in my service, and look forward to the opportunity to work with and welcome new individuals with similar passion for improvement."
