PPG Automotive Refinish Hosts Successful Conference in Nashville

PPG Automotive Refinish recently hosted its fall 2014 MVP Conference at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tenn. More than 440 shop owners, distributors, industry guests and PPG reps attended the educational event to learn about the latest practices to better improve their businesses.

The three-day long event kicked off on Sunday, Sept. 21 with the Randy Dewing Memorial Golf Tournament. Winners included:

Following the golf outing, attendees were treated to a welcome dinner and cocktail reception to socialize and network with fellow guests.

Monday’s events kicked off with an opening keynote speech from innovative entrepreneur Peter Sheahan, who discussed turning change into competitive advantage. Breakout sessions continued throughout the day, focusing on topics such as managing Generation Y (Millenial) employees and DRP compliance.

Keynote speaker Ross Shaffer delivered final remarks to end the afternoon, touching on capitalizing on competition and overcoming obstacles in the workplace. A strolling dinner through the resort’s restaurant and bar district closed out the night. Attendees were treated to live music from The A-Town A-List and David Payton, as well as a wide variety of delicious food, drinks and desserts.

Breakout sessions continued through Tuesday afternoon, focusing on topics such as amping up company culture and preparing for the aluminum influx.

A final keynote speech, presented by best-selling author Ross Bernstein, drew parallels from the world of sports to the business world and taught attendees how to be more productive “champions” in the workplace.

“Successful people tend to work hard and play hard,” said Jim Berkey, director Business Solutions for PPG.  “So we work hard to get the appropriate mix of compelling content for the sake of the business and a venue that allows us to have a great time together.”
