Atlas Copco Distributor Air Technologies Receives Energy Efficiency Award

The company was ranked 6th for top energy savings with more than 5 million kWh hours saved, largely due to its long-standing partnership with Atlas Copco.

Air Technologies, a key Atlas Copco distributor of compressed air solutions, has received a 2014 Energy Efficiency Top Producer Award from American Electric Power (AEP) Ohio. The company was ranked 6th for top energy savings with more than 5 million kWh hours saved, largely due to its long-standing partnership with Atlas Copco.

“Many of the kWh saved for our customers were tied to energy-efficient Atlas Copco Variable Speed Drive (VSD) air compressors,” said Trey Donze, Northeast Ohio regional sales manager for Air Technologies.

The variable speed drive (VSD) compressor is one of the most energy-efficient compressor designs in the compressed air industry, and has been since its introduction in 1994. Fitted with an intelligent drive system, a VSD compressor continuously changes the motor speed to match air demand and eliminates the compressor running in an unloaded state. This simple concept yields significant energy and cost savings; customers can achieve average energy savings of 35 to 50 percent and an average 22 to 37 percent reduction in lifecycle cost.

“Air Technologies has been a top Atlas Copco distributor for many years and their commitment to providing the most energy efficient solutions to their customers aligns with Atlas Copco’s vision to be First in Mind—First in Choice for all of its stakeholders,” said Robert Eshelman, vice president, Atlas Copco’s Industrial Air Division in the United States. “We believe the future of industrial compressors is 100 percent variable speed drive and Air Technologies is helping us reach that goal.”

AEP Ohio’s Custom Energy Efficiency Program helps Air Technologies’ customers receive incentives for purchasing high efficiency equipment and making process improvements that reduce energy consumption and peak demand.
