Axalta to Build Global Innovation Center in Philadelphia

The 175,000-square-foot facility will be home to Axalta’s global research, product development and technology initiatives.

Axalta Coating Systems announced it will locate its new Global Innovation Center at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia. The 175,000-square-foot facility will be home to Axalta’s global research, product development, and technology initiatives and will partner with the company’s other technology centers in the Americas, Europe and the Asia-Pacific.

Axalta has entered into a long-term lease agreement for the building, and the project is being developed by Liberty Property Trust and Synterra Partners. Project construction is expected to be complete in late 2017.

Upon reaching full operation in 2018, Axalta will bring at least 190 new jobs to Philadelphia with the possibility of additional positions in the future.

The National Auto Body Council (NABC), along with GEICO, Farmers, Allstate, Gerber Collision & Glass-Cartersville, Crash Champions-Marietta and Caliber Collision-Fayetteville, recently donated refurbished vehicles to two veterans and a single mother via the NABC's Recycled Rides program.

The presentations took place at the I-CAR Charity Golf Tournament in Woodstock, Ga.
