Addison Auto Receives Denver Pollution Prevention Partners Certification

Addison Auto Repair & Body Shop is one of only three auto shops
recently to receive the Denver P2 Partners certification from the
Denver Department of Environmental Health.

Denver P2 Partners is a
voluntary and non-regulatory program that provides free educational
outreach and technical assistance. The primary goals of the program are
to increase participation and adoption of sustainable practices to
minimize use of hazardous materials, improve energy efficiency and
water conservation, and decrease the use of resources and generation of
waste.

“The two things that are
different about this program are the helpful nature of the program
administrators and their assistance with information and resources," said Brenda Addison. "The
certification program not only requires compliance with environmental
regulations but, more significantly, encourages businesses to continually
improve their environmental practices. Through our involvement with the
program, Go Green Electric, Inc., is currently monitoring our energy
consumption, and Groundwork Denver conducted an energy audit to make
suggestions on better controlling our energy usage. After our
involvement with this program, we’re considering sustainability and
conservation when making decisions.”

Denver Pollution Prevention Partners provides
free, non-regulatory, and confidential technical assistance and
advocacy on environmental matters to the private sector business
community. The program employs a variety of outreach and assistance
strategies to businesses to address pollution prevention alternatives
and environmental best management practices aimed at reducing
regulatory burden, understanding of environmental regulations, and
minimizing environmental risk and liability. The program also provides
assistance with coordination and referrals to interested businesses to
“green” their operations to become more energy efficient, conserve
natural resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit overall
emissions to air, land and water.
