CARSTAR Holds Fourth Annual Soaps It Up! Car Wash for Make-A-Wish

CARSTAR Auto Body Repair Experts is once again holding its Soaps It Up! car wash charity event to make wishes come true for Make-A-Wish kids.

On June 9, thousands of volunteers across the U.S. and Canada will be washing vehicles to raise funds to help Make-A-Wish grant wishes in the U.S. and to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis in Canada. Last year, the Soaps It Up! car wash raised more than $30,000 in the U.S. and set the Guinness World Record for most cars washed in multiple locations during an eight-hour period by washing more than 4,300 vehicles.

More than 120 CARSTAR stores throughout both countries are expected to participate in the event. Tickets are being sold at participating CARSTAR stores in the U.S. for $10, with 100 percent of the ticket purchase benefiting the selected charities.

“Over the first three years, the Soaps It Up! car wash has been able to unite the CARSTAR family across North America to help thousands of children in need,” said David Byers, CEO of CARSTAR. “Now, we’re ready to continue the tradition and bring even more support for Make-A-Wish in the U.S. and Cystic Fibrosis Canada in Canada.”

The CARSTAR partners are sweetening the program with special offers for participants:

• 3M Auto Care is offering a $5 rebate on the 3M Lens Renewal Kit to help drivers restore their headlights to like-new condition.
• CARSTAR is partnering with Hertz, which is providing an offer of up to $25 off of a weekday or weekend rental with every ticket purchase.
• Cheryl’s Cookies is giving participants six free cookies (shipping and handling additional charge).

“The annual Soaps It Up! car wash program is a great community fundraising promotion that is in perfect harmony with the grassroots nature of our wish-granting efforts that span every community in the United States,” said David A. Williams, president and chief executive officer of Make-A-Wish America. “Through this expanding event, CARSTAR is helping us get closer to reaching every kid diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition and grant them a wish that makes life better for everyone touched by the experience.”

CARSTAR stores in Canada have been conducting the “Soaps It Up!” car wash for the past eight years, and this is the fourth time the program has been done in the U.S. The 2009 event was the first attempt for any organization to set the record for the largest car wash across multiple locations.
